The Get Up and Explore Science Spectacular is a chance for homeschooled students to investigate a question, display their work, win prizes, get input from real scientists, and meet likeminded kids.

The fair is over! We had a wonderful time. Please visit our 2009 Sponsors and say thank you for supporting this awesome event.

We are looking forward to another great year and plan to welcome you next year to G.U.E.S.S. 2010! Our gracious hosts, the VASC, have extended an offer to host the fair again next year. If you're already thinking of getting started, check out the Science Fair 2009 Info and Rules. For a list of prohibited substances, please see the ISEF rules and check that your display will not contain any of these items. Here is a sheet to help you with Project Criteria and a few Helpful Project Links. Interested in going on to the Tidewater Science Fair or maybe the International Science and Engineering Fair? Check out the paperwork before you begin, and let's send someone on to the regional fair next year!

Dear Families,

Thank you so much for your participation in the G.U.E.S.S. Homeschool Science Fair in 2009. It was a remarkable day. We were lucky to have a wealth of talent in judging, provided by some homeschool dads, some working scientists, and the Virginia Air and Space Center docents. The judges were all impressed with our kids, and took great care and attention in interviewing them and learning about their projects.

Meanwhile the children all enjoyed an electricity demo, an interesting science class from the museum educators (on weather, plate tectonics, or the physics of roller coaster, depending on their age), and an IMAX movie about roller coasters too.

If you can help us promote our sponsors on the internet, via a blog, Facebook, Twitter, or on an e-list, please let us know you'd like to help. We'd also love to include your pictures in our Flickr photo pool. Get in touch!

All the best,
Shez Silverberg and Lydia Netzer
